Welcome to the official website of the Transport Department, Govt.of Chhattisgarh-This portal has been designed to provide comprehensive, reliable, user-friendly and one-stop source of information on obtaining a Driving License by a citizen in Chhattisgarh. If you are visiting this website for the first time and are intending to apply for a Driving License or related service, you may spend a few minutes in reading this advisory.
The prescribed Learning License application duly filled in should be with all prescribed documents and fees. Merely submission of an application, however, does not constitute a claim for issue of a learning license. It remains a request/requisition for a Learning license, which may be rejected due to deficiency in the supporting documents, not following the prescribed procedures or any other reason. The basic supporting documents required with Learning license application include:

- Identity proof with photograph (to be verified by Driving License Authority Officials from the address proof and other documents)

For getting learner’s licence in Chhattisgarh follow the below steps:
- Learn the basic traffic rules.
- Learn the basic signs.
- Take demo tests of our free test series for learner’s licence. The test consists of 10 questions and you need to get 6 answers (60%) correct for getting learner’s licence.
- Apply online for learner’s licence and book a slot for appearing in learner’s licence test. Click Here...
- Select a day on which you are free as it may take some more than specified time.
- Instead of applying online you can directly go to your local RTO office and apply directly but the persons who booked slot online will get priority over you.
- You need to fill all the form with one local address proof,permanent address proof and age proof.
- If you are minor you require to fill consent form from guardian.
- After that you need to take learner’s licence test and if you passes the exam you will get learner’s licence.

For getting driving licence in Chhattisgarh follow the below steps:
- After getting learner’s licence you can learn driving in supervision of a permanent driving licence holder.
- If you are applying for commercial driving licence you need to learn driving from a certified driving school.
- After having knowledge of driving and completing 30 days for the date of issue of learner’s licence.Apply for permanent driving licence Click Here.. and book slot.
- Alternately you can go directly and apply but the persons who booked slot online will get priority over you.
- You have to bring a vehicle of the type to which the application relates.
- During the test you need to drive in front of RTO authority.
- If you pass the exam you will get your driving licence at your residence through post.

For getting International driving licence in Chhattisgarh follow the below steps:
For getting International driving licence yo need to have permanent driving licence and Copies of Passport, Visa ( where applicable) and Air ticket for verification. You need to apply along with prescribed form and fees.
No person shall drive any Motor Vehicle and no owner of Motor Vehicle shall cause or permit the vehicle to be driven in any public place or any other place, unless the vehicle is Registered in accordance with Chapter IV of the MV Act,1988.

The Transport Department is headed by the State Transport Commissioner. He is assisted by two Additional State Transport Commissioner, One Joint State Transport Commissioner, Deputy Controller (F&A), Deputy State Transport Commissioner, Punjab, Service Engineer, Automobile Engineer, Assistant Transport Commissioner (Tech) in the Head Office.
The State is divided into 4 regions. One Regional Transport Authority is constituted for each of the 4 regions under section 68 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 with State Transport Commissioner, as single-man, Regional Transport Authority. These Regional Transport Authorities exercise and discharge the powers and functions conferred on them under the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and Rules made there under, which mainly relate to control of transport by way of grant of permits.
